What if you miss the deadline? If you do not contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme before 26 February 2027, you may miss this winter's discount.

The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £150 off your electricity bill. The money is not paid to you – your supplier takes it off your bill. It is not available in Northern Ireland. In England and Wales, the qualifying benefits are Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, income-related ESA and Pension Credit.

How to do it

  1. Check that your supplier is part of the scheme and that your name, or your partner's, is on the electricity bill.
  2. Look out for a letter between late October 2026 and early January 2027.
  3. If the letter says you are eligible, you do not need to do anything. The discount goes on your bill by 31 March 2027.
  4. If the letter asks for more information, call the helpline by 26 February 2027.
  5. If you get no letter by early January 2027 and think you are eligible, call 0800 030 9322 before 26 February 2027.
  6. In Scotland, if you do not qualify automatically, contact your electricity supplier early to apply.
